  • In fact, mildew in feed and feed ingredients is very common. According to relevant reports, the detection rate of mycotoxins in feeds and raw materials worldwide is as high as 97%. It can be said that mycotoxins harm the aquaculture industry to varying degrees at all times. When entering the summer, due to high temperature, rain, and humidity, the feed is more prone to agglomeration, mold, deterioration, or oxidative rancidity due to moisture. If it is the rainy season, it is the peak season for mold to reproduce, and the phenomenon of mildew due to improper storage of feed and raw materials is even more common. If this kind of moldy feed is used to feed animals, it may cause different degrees of poisoning of the farmed animals, such as fatty liver, ascites, liver fragility and necrosis of the farmed subjects, and cause the death of the farmed subjects, and cause the farmers to Unnecessary economic losses.

First, control the temperature and humidity of the warehouse to ensure ventilation. The growth of most molds requires a relative humidity of about 75%. When the relative humidity reaches above 80%, the molds grow rapidly. In the storage process of compound feed, the moisture content is generally required to be below 12%. If the moisture content is controlled below 10%, mold is not easy to grow; and when the moisture content of the feed reaches 15%, mildew is extremely easy to occur. Therefore, to store feed in summer, it must be moisture-proof and moisture-proof, and try to keep the feed warehouse in a dry environment. The warehouse for storing feed should be located in a place with relatively high terrain, dry, cool, well ventilated and convenient for drainage, and adopt cement inner wall and cement floor. There should be a 15-20 cm high bottom under the feed, and it should not be directly stacked on the ground; there should be gaps above and around the feed to keep the air unblocked. In addition, the warehouse should be kept clean and hygienic.
Second, control the temperature and oxygen content. Usually, the feed should be sealed and stored in a plastic bag. Use double-layer bags, use airtight plastic bags for the inner layer, and use textile bags for the outer layer, and try to make the bag hypoxic, so as to inhibit the growth of mold in the bag. The properties of feed are relatively stable when stored in a cool shade. When the temperature is about 20°C, some feed additives will gradually lose their activity, and the loss of nutrients will be even worse when the temperature is high in summer. Reduce the temperature of the storage warehouse, and control the storage temperature of the feed within the range where molds are not suitable for growth. Specific measures such as choosing suitable weather to ventilate the feed warehouse and using cold air to cool down; or the feed can be frozen and sealed to ensure low temperature or Freeze preservation to achieve the effect of preventing mildew and maintaining the quality of feed. Note that low-temperature mildew prevention must be combined with dry and mildew prevention measures to achieve good results.
Third, the use of feed antifungal agents, that is, antifungal agents. ①Acetic acid anti-mold method. Mix 2 parts of acetic acid and 1 part of sodium acetate, then add 1% of sorbitol, mix well, and mix it into the feed at a ratio of 1% after drying. This method can ensure that the feed will not be moldy for 2 months. ② Calcium (sodium) propionate anti-mold method. Add 100 grams of calcium propionate to every 100 kilograms of feed. The specific method is to mix a small amount of feed with propionic acid (sodium) first, then add a large amount of feed, mix well and store it in a dry cement pool or plastic bag. This method can prevent mildew for more than 100 days. In addition, calcium (sodium) propionate itself contains a certain amount of energy, which can promote appetite. ③Sorbic acid anti-mold method: Sorbic acid is a highly effective and non-toxic anti-mold agent. It is usually used in the range of pH 5 to 6, and the dosage is 0.15%. ④ Anti-mold citric acid method: citric acid can be used as a preservative and an antioxidant synergist. The added amount in the compound feed is 0.5%.

Fourth, various feeds are best used up in a short time. Dry and powdered materials can be stored for a short time. Wet and fermented feeds should be fed immediately. The storage time of chemically stable feed additives should not be too long, so as not to reduce the effect or produce toxins. It is not advisable to enter too much feed at a time, and the prepared feed should not be stored for too long. It is better not to exceed 1 month in summer. The feed that has been stored for a long time should be properly turned, ventilated, and spread out to reduce the heat of the feed itself. Note that the old materials should be used first, and the old materials should be thoroughly cleaned up when storing the new materials, and the new materials should not be mixed.

Fifth, pay attention to killing rodents and insects in time. Rodent and insect pests not only consume feed and cause waste, but also consume a large amount of oxygen, produce carbon dioxide, water, and release heat, causing local temperature and humidity of feed to increase, agglomeration and mold. Rats will also dig holes in the walls and roofs and smuggle feed out, causing rainwater to pour into the storage warehouse from the rat holes, causing the feed to become damp and moldy. Therefore, rodents must be eradicated in time, and if feed insects are found, they must be selected, removed, and corresponding measures must be taken.

However, saving cost by producing your own floating fish feed is highly recommended. What you need is a pellet machine.
