  • factors affect the pellets

There are many factors affecting the pellet formation of feed pellets. Equipment, raw materials, including manual operations will affect their granulation performance. Therefore, farmers should be given a warning. The specific operations are as follows:

    1. Adding a small amount of oil from 0.5% to 1% of oil and fat is beneficial to reduce the wear of the granule machine parts and make the granules easy to pass through the die hole to increase the granulation yield. However, when the addition amount exceeds 2%, the granules are loose and difficult to form. Therefore, when adding high-dose oil, it is advisable to add 30% of the total amount at the mixer and 70% of the total amount of the granulator.

    2. Appropriate 3%~5% crude fiber content of crude fiber is beneficial to the bonding of granular materials, reducing the pulverization rate of the particles and increasing the granulation yield. However, when the crude fiber content exceeds 10%, the adhesion is poor. It affects the hardness and forming rate of the particles, increases equipment wear and reduces granulation yield.

    3. Heat-sensitive feeds such as lactose and whey powder will increase in viscosity after heating, which is beneficial to increase the yield. However, if the temperature exceeds 60 °C, coking will occur, causing blockage of the pores and affecting the grain production. Warm water can be used for quenching and tempering.

    4. Minerals Most mineral feeds have almost no cohesive force or small cohesive force, poor granulation performance, and low granulation yield. Therefore, when the inorganic (mineral) content is high, it is generally required to feed the material. A small amount of binder (such as molasses) is added to improve the granulation performance to increase the yield of the pelletizer and the used feed mill.
